Jessica Watson passes the 6000 nautical mile mark

Flying along in great sailing conditions and preparing for stormy weather ahead in the Great Southern Ocean, Jessica Watson posts her news on a blog that records her daily life on Ella's Pink Lady. Jessica has rearranged the cabin, with everything properly secured, light wind sails shuffled to the bottom of the pile to be replaced with the storm sails, warm clothing and wet weather gear ready for easy access. She found her Christmas presents but resisted the temptation to open them, keeping them wrapped until Christmas.

Sixteen-year-old Jessica sailed from Sydney Harbour on 18 October in her distinctive pink 34-foot Sparkman and Stevens yacht on the first leg of her record attempt to sail 23,000 nautical miles around the world.

With three Panasonic LUMIX cameras, including a top-of-the-line super zoom with RAW capability, plus an HD Video Camera, Jessica is well equipped for to record her voyage. Plus, Panasonic also supplied four Toughbook Ruggedised Laptops to communicate with family and friends via email through the boat's broadband satellite system and to update her website and blog.
